PEP Grant
The Physical Education Program Grant (PEP) is part of the No Child Left Behind Act. PEP is part of the physical education for progress act, which strives to initiate, expand and improve physical education programs. The Saint Paul PEP grant is designed to promote the integration of lifelong fitness and nutrition concepts and activities both during and after the school day. Twelve elementary school sites (during the school day) along with 12 recreation centers (after school) will partner to incorporate these concepts into their curriculums. High school students will be recruited to serve as mentors to the elementary students participating at the recreation centers. The 2005/06 school year will primarily be a program development year including the identification of program sites, staff, equipment, and curriculum materials. Students will begin the program September 2006.
